Karen Taha was born in Mena, Arkansas on January 10, 1942. On May 12, 1965, she married Hamdy A. Taha. They have three children, Tarek, Sharif, and Maisa. The Tahas now live in Springdale, Arkansas.
Mrs. Taha spent her childhood and early adulthood in Arizona. She has taught Spanish and English in Arizona and Arkansas. She is currently a library media specialist.
Mrs. Taha has incorporated her travel experiences into her books. She attempts to foster a greater understanding of other cultures in her works. She also writes for children's magazines.
